Born from a passion for language and creativity, FluentDoc was founded to bring the art of language creation to everyone, from hobbyists to professionals.
Our mission is to inspire and empower creators by providing an innovative platform for constructing languages.
From a spark of inspiration at Stony Brook University to a platform empowering creators worldwide, FluentDoc is where imagination and innovation meet.
At Stony Brook University, a young linguistics student named Patrick Gaston found himself captivated by the idea of creating entire worlds through language. It was here, late in the quiet of the university library, that he crafted his first constructed language—a small, intricate system of words that brought his imagined universe to life. This was the moment the seed of FluentDoc was planted, though Patrick didn’t know it yet.
As his fascination with language creation grew, Patrick’s path took a sharp turn into the world of technology and innovation. He became a software engineer by day, applying his analytical mind to solve complex problems in the tech space, and a language creator by night, weaving words and rules into new forms of expression. His passion for both fields led to groundbreaking achievements—one issued patent and multiple pending. But something was missing.
Patrick had always dreamed of a place where creators—whether linguists, writers, or worldbuilders—could come together to design languages effortlessly, without needing to be experts in linguistics or software. He envisioned a tool that would merge the precision of technology with the creativity of language.
With this vision in mind, Patrick set out to build FluentDoc, a platform designed to empower creators from all walks of life to design languages, tell stories, and build worlds. Drawing from his rich background as a linguist, software engineer, and entrepreneur, Patrick built FluentDoc to be the bridge between imagination and creation—a place where language becomes the gateway to limitless storytelling.
Today, FluentDoc stands as the culmination of Patrick’s journey from student linguist to inventor, ready to transform how languages are born and shared across the globe.
